The opening night from the blogger’s point of view

Hello, here’s the blogger again. Long time no see 🙂 . I want to share my impressions on the first Munich Again Thursday yesterday, not from the booker’s point of view, but from the Emilie that watches the Munich Scene from afar, the Emilie that feels a lot of love for the artists that give her healing energy and the audiences that take the time to really listen to them.

Yesterday night, I took once again a step back and watched the dynamics of people interacting with each other. I felt the vibe and fed from it. My happiness was not coming from making a new project come to life, but from feeling that everybody that was there was getting something from the space and the music. They listened. They applauded warmly. They danced without any restraint or social rules governing them. They drank, not to get in the right mood to fit in, but because it was a safe space to do it. They made the Rote Sonne their space, and this is how things should be.

The first Munich Again Thursday was not a success in terms of quantity of people that came to watch a show and listen to DJs afterwards, but it was a success in terms of quality of audience. Everybody that was there, was there for this night, specifically.

The blogger Emilie got the clear confirmation that she made the right decision by moving to Munich : the Munich she loves can still grow and find new spaces to settle in. Her Munich is not a fixed point in time, it’s still expanding and she is here to witness it and share it with the world.

The booker Emilie learnt a lot yesterday. She learnt that she was on the right track, but got her suspicions confirmed regarding about how hard building a new audience is. She knows she needs all the help she can get to make these weekly nights part of The Flow. Hope, perseverance, patience. This is all about building a new institution, with its amazing audiences, in a space that is willing to welcome them.

Many, many thanks to all the great, open minds that took the time to come to Rote Sonne yesterday. You are the ones I am working for, and we shared beauty together, in this luxurious-yet-rough basement club with wobbly floors trapped under a very shit mainstream club. Underground beauty. Again. This is what Munich Again is all about.
